IUFRO World Congress 2019 in Brazil

The worlds largest congress on forest research was held in Curitiba in Brazil in October.

For the first time Latin America will host a World Congress of the IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations). This event was hosted by the Brazilian Forest Service (SFB) and EMBRAPA. Three thousand participants joined the event.

Exchanges of experiences

The Congress is a great opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge on technological innovations, as well as to stay up to date on the latest research findings and trends for the future of forestry and forest research in all areas of the world.

It also represent a major meeting place for researchers, teachers, students, and professionals in the forestry sector worldwide to come together.

Nordic and Baltic delegations

The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU, had a delegation of 60 people in Curitiba. All together the Nordic and Baltic countries had a substantial number of delegates at the IUFRO World Congress 2019. They were all great ambassadors for the coming IUFRO World Congress in Stockholm 2024.

The Stockholm 2024 Pavilion

The Stockholm pavilion was a great success as a meeting place for both spontaneous calls and scheduled meetings. Delegates tried the harvester simulator from Komatsu and enjoyed the environmental friendly model of a 26 storey high-rise building in wood from White Arkitekter.

On top of that the delegates joined speakers corner and listen to the latest from the policy dialogue worldwide. Finally, the Nordic and Baltic partners display research platforms and innovations.
